The Mini Projector

The Mini Projector is a small portable projector built for a bedroom rather than a boardroom. It is a phone projector first: connect over wifi from an iPhone or an Android phone and whatever is on your screen goes up on the wall, with no dongle, no cable across the floor and no laptop involved. As a wireless projector it also runs its own apps, with Android on board and Bluetooth for a speaker, so this smartphone projector works as a standalone streaming projector without anything plugged into it but power. The head rotates a full 180 degrees on its stand, which is what separates it from most mini projectors: point it at a wall, along a floor, or straight up so it becomes a ceiling projector you can watch lying in bed. Automatic vertical correction keeps the picture square even when it is tilted, and a manual focus ring sharpens the last of it.

Sound is built into the base, so this compact bedroom projector works on its own out of the box, and pairing a Bluetooth speaker takes it further when you want it. It runs from mains power, so keep it near a socket, and a throw distance of roughly 1.5 to 3 metres gives the most usable picture size on a bare wall. One thing worth being straight about before you buy: this is a small LED projector for a dark room, not a daylight one. With the curtains drawn and the lights off the picture is bright and easily wall sized, which is exactly what you want on a weeknight. With the lights on and the sun up it will look washed out, the same as every portable projector at this size. Plan it as an evening thing and it will not let you down.
